The Department of Soil Science and Agril. Chemistry was established mainly to meet the research needs of farmers of the TBP and UKP command area more particularly with reference to the soil fertility and productivity by addressing the soil salinity, alkalinity and micronutrient constraints in the field of crop production of this region. The department has well qualified staff working in teaching, research and extension fields. The department is offering courses for UG programme and offering Master’s and Doctoral degree programme in Soil science and Agril. Chemistry.
Department of Soil Science is well equipped with class rooms, laboratory facilities and supported good number of faculties to teach both UG, PG and Ph. D courses.
UG, PG and Doctoral students are being trained for competitive exams like JRF, SRF NET and ARS examinations conducted by ICAR, New Delhi and trainings on skill developments in soil testing and analysis methodologies were also organized to rural youths, farmers and staff from the State Department of Agriculture as and when required.
