Department of Crop Physiology

Plant physiology aims to understand how plants live, functions, grow and develop from seeds to mature plant and includes the study of biological, biophysical and chemical processes of plants. Major emphasis is on

•  Basic knowledge on plant metabolism and plant responses to environment and other constraints
• Provide exposure to undertake programs for crop improvement by exploiting well characterized physiological processes
• Provides exposure on potential interventions based on principals of plant physiology to improve growth and productivity.

The major focus of  MSc programs is on

• · Exposure on basic principles of plant physiology
• · Plant responses to environmental variables
• · Finally, exposure on approaches for translational programs

MSc (Agri.) and Ph.D. programmes were started during 2012-13 and 2017-18 respectivelyat College of Agriculture, Raichur.
