GREEN GRADUATION PROGRAMME
About the Programme
Green Graduation, an unique programme introduced by University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur for the first year B. Sc. (Hons) Agriculture students and B. Tech Agricultural Engineering students from the academic year 2019-20, in all college campuses of the university. Under this programme, each newly admitted First Year student is provided with one seedling of selected plant species (marked with his/her name and ID number), which he/she has to plant at the decided location and has to take complete care of the plant; including making irrigation basin, watering, putting fertilizers as and when required, periodic cleaning and weeding etc for entire graduation period. At the time of degree convocation, the Green Graduation Certificate will be given to the student in addition to the degree certificate.
Green Graduation Programme of College of Agriculture, Raichur was planned well in advance, under the guidance of Dr. D.M.Chandargi, Dean (Agri.,) and senior faculty members of the college. The work was allotted to NSS units of COA, Raichur, led by NSS Program Co-Ordinator and programme officers. Open space besides the University Play ground was finalized for the said programme. The space was cleaned with the help of tractors equipped with the required farm implements. The area was marked as per the chalked-out plan and pits of suitable sizes were drilled using tractor operated post-hole digger at the exact locations of plantations. A total of 120 plants comprising of 25 species were selected (mostly flower bearing varieties with dense canopy) suitable for Raichur climatic conditions in consultation with Divisional Forest Officer (Social Forestry, Raichur).
Green Graduation Programme of College of Agriculture, Raichur was conducted on 2nd October on the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This was inaugurated by Dr. K. N. Kattimani, Hon. Vice-Chancellor, UAS, Raichur in presence of Dr. M. G. Patil, Registrar, UAS, Raichur, Dr. Pramod Katti, Administrative Officer, UAS, Raichur, Dr. S. K. Meti, Director of Education, UAS, Raichur, Dr. M. Nemichandrappa, Dean (Students’ Welfare), UAS, Raichur, Dr. Chandaragi, Dean (Agri.), Dr. M. Veerengouda, Dean (Agril. Engineering),
Dr. Ravi M Sambrani, NSS Programme Co-ordinator, UAS, Raichur, NSS Programme officers of COA, Raichur, Dr. Rajanna, Red Cross Co-ordinator, UAS, Raichur, Professor & Heads of all the Departments, teaching and non-teaching staff, NSS volunteers and newly joined First Year B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture students of COA, Raichur. Dr. K. N. Kattimani, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor addressed the function and guided the students and staff about Green Graduation Initiative and Clean & Green Campus programme initiated by the university. Dr. D. M. Chandargi, Dean (Agri.,) thanked Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor for inaugurating the programme and assured him that it will be conducted and continued in efficient manner. He also thanked all University Officers, teaching and non-teaching staff, NSS Volunteers and students of the college for attending the Green Graduation Programme and making it successful.
