Department of Agricultural Extension Education

About the department

Consequent upon the establishment of College of Agriculture in 1984, the department of Agricultural Extension Education came into existence and one of the senior Professor of Agricultural Extension Education transferred in the year 1986 to start and develop the new department. Initially efforts had been made to establish Audio-Visual aid lab with well furnished displays on crop activities, Agril national statistics etc along with ICT tools.

It is historical to note that on the initiation of a separate University as UAS, Raichur, the PG /Doctoral studies started in 2009 with first admission of 6 students to the department. Subsequent faculties has maintained the standards till today.

· Established HoT/EL laboratory.

· UG, PG class rooms & Seminar room fitted with LCD Projectors & screens for effective conduct of classes & seminars.

Innovative teaching methods used

· Chalk less and notes dictation less teaching method is adopted in class rooms, self learning power point presentations and notes are prepared and handed over to students by some teachers of the department.

Department has shouldered the responsibility in delivering the major activities of RAWE programme during which the department faculties train students how to collect basic information from farmers and re-facilitate them to conduct the PRA exercises including transect walk, social mapping etc.) by involving the local people.

In the period of 56 days of RAWE programme minimum 3 crop seminars are conducted in the villages in a conversion mode involving faculties, scientists from university, officers from line departments etc., which is a routine part of work.
