The following are trainings organised during previous years
1. “Eco-friendly management of major diseases of field crops of Northern Karnataka: An overview” -2016.
2. Training Programme on “Skill development in bio-input production technology”-2018.
With a vision of identifying and exchanging ideas regarding the latest technological issues developed across the country, nationwide seminars & conferences are organised timely, which further aid in reviewing research, education & extension. The recently organised symposium is IPS SZ-National symposium on “Transdisciplinary approaches to Plant Pathology research, education and extension in response to changing climate”-2019.
Entrepreneurship Centre on Bio-inputs has been established to provide hands on training to under graduate students on production technology of bio-fertilizers, bio-pesticides and vermicompost; familiarize the students with bio-input Agri business activities to venture into self entrepreneurship during 2011-12 sponsored by ICAR, New Delhi. Every year, 14-15 final year B.Sc. (Agri.) students are allotted to the Centre to undergo hands on training and totally eighty three students were trained so far on mass production and commercialization of bio-inputs. The students take up large scale production of quality bioinputs such as Trichoderma, Pseudomonas, phosphate solubilising bacteria, vermicompost, NPV etc. during the course. Thirty five tonnes of quality bio-inputs are commercially produced, packed and distributed to farmers at concessional prices by students. The hands on training helped many students to built self confidence on mass production and commercial sale of bio-inputs. Some students have been employed in private firms for large scale production, popularization and sale of bio-inputs to farming community.
